When Your Family Photos Are Anything But Traditional

Who says family photos have to look traditional?

This family decided to put their own personality into their session, and I absolutely loved every minute of it.

We headed to a graveyard for a family session with a definite dark, gothic, Halloween-inspired vibe. Mom wore a stunning black dress and brought along her black wedding veil, while Dad and the kids coordinated in black and red.

And there was a very special reason for choosing a graveyard.

This family had actually gotten married in a graveyard, so they returned to celebrate their anniversary and create family portraits in a place that already held so much meaning for them.

It was also freezing that day—but this family absolutely toughed it out!

They didn't let the cold stop them from creating something completely unique. Instead of trying to fit their family into a traditional photography style, they embraced who they are and made the session their own.

And honestly?

These are my favorite kinds of sessions.
