Not every couple wants the perfectly posed, pretty-pretty engagement session — and honestly, THANK GOD. 😂
This couple wanted their engagement photos to feel like them.
They’re a military couple with two families coming together from different states, cultures, and backgrounds, and I absolutely loved seeing all of those pieces come together. Their story is a beautiful reminder that love really does bring different worlds together.
So instead of spending the afternoon doing nothing but traditional poses, we headed downtown Pensacola and made a day of it.
We had a picnic surrounded by their favorite books, rocked their band T-shirts, grabbed some adult beverages, played games, laughed a LOT, and basically just let them be themselves. 🎸🍻📚
They're travelers. They're concert-goers. They're laid-back, fun, a little bit rocker, and definitely NOT your typical “stand here and smile” couple.
And that's exactly what I wanted to photograph.
Their wedding is going to be far from much of their family, which makes these engagement photos even more important. These aren't just pictures to put on a save-the-date — they're part of their story. They're a little piece of who they are right now, together, before they start the next chapter.
And I had an absolute BLAST photographing them.
Give me the couple who says, “Pretty isn't really us. We want FUN.”
